Slit lamp price in 2026: what a slit lamp costs

What does a slit lamp cost? The slit lamp price depends mainly on three things: how many magnification steps it has, whether you want a camera, and whether you buy new or used. Below you find our current slit lamp prices (October 2026), what drives the cost of a slit lamp, and what else to budget for before you buy.
Slit lamp prices at a glance (October 2026)
| Model | Magnification | Price excl. VAT | Digital, with 4K camera |
|---|---|---|---|
| Labomed SL 20i | 2 steps, 10× and 16× | €2.199 | €4.158 |
| Labomed SLx 45 | 3 steps, 10× to 25× | €2.759 | €4.718 |
| Labomed eVO300 | 5 steps, 6.5× to 40× | €3.759 | €5.071 |
Prices exclude VAT and delivery. Dutch customers pay 21% VAT on top; EU businesses with a valid VAT number pay 0% (reverse charge). The current prices are always on our slit lamp page, where you can compare the three models side by side.
What drives the price of a slit lamp
Magnification steps
The steps are the magnification settings of the microscope. Two steps (10× and 16×) suit everyday screening and contact-lens fitting; three steps add 25× for detailed anterior-segment work; five steps, up to 40×, are for fine detail and fluorescein examinations. In our range, going from two to five steps is the biggest price difference.
Optics and illumination
All three of our slit lamps have 5 W LED illumination and cobalt-blue and red-free filters. The SLx 45 and the eVO300 add apochromatic optics, which keep the image sharp and colour-true at higher magnification; the eVO300 also has a flip-in yellow filter for fluorescein.
Camera and documentation
A digital slit lamp adds a beam splitter (on the eVO300 a C-mount adapter on the built-in photo port) and a camera. This is the second-biggest step in price; see the digital column above.
Brand
Premium brands such as Haag-Streit, Zeiss and Topcon are usually priced higher than the models on this page. Their dealers give current prices.
New or used
A used slit lamp costs less, but check its service history, whether parts and repairs are still available, and what warranty comes with it. We sell new slit lamps only, with 12 months’ manufacturer’s warranty from Labomed.
Digital slit lamp price
Each of our three models is also available as a digital slit lamp, with a Labomed beam splitter (on the eVO300 a C-mount adapter) and a BlackBox 4K AutoFocus camera: 4K video, photos straight to a USB stick and a live view on a monitor by HDMI. The digital SL 20i costs €4.158, the digital SLx 45 €4.718 and the digital eVO300 €5.071, excluding VAT.
Portable and hand-held slit lamps
Hand-held slit lamps are made for home visits and bedside checks; they trade magnification range and stability for portability. For a fixed workplace, the SL 20i is our lowest-priced slit lamp.
What else to budget for
- Table. A slit lamp needs a stable instrument table. The motorised table for Labomed slit lamps costs €868 excluding VAT.
- Accessories. An applanation tonometer, beam splitter or diffuser can be priced together with the slit lamp in one quote.
