Why check the tension in mounted lenses
Every lens that is mounted in a frame is under some tension. If it is wrongly applied, the tension can distort the lens and, in glass lenses, cause chips. A tensiometer shows the tension so that you can remove it before the glasses go to the customer, which means fewer complaints and remakes.
What to look for
- Bench model (A2100): tilts to suit the user’s posture, 5 W LED lamp
- Hand model (A3800): cordless, compact, 9 V battery
- Both check lenses that are already mounted in the frame
Frequently asked questions
Tensiometer or hand tensiometer?
The bench Tensiometer stands on the counter, tilts to suit your posture and has a 5 W LED lamp. The Hand Tensiometer is cordless and compact, handy to carry between workplaces.
Which lenses can I check?
Mounted lenses. The tension is most critical in glass lenses, where too much tension can chip the lens.
