Auto Refractometer with Keratometer TW-9000K: An automatic refractometer (some models combined with a keratometer) that objectively measures a patient's refractive error and corneal curvature.
What a auto refractometer does in your practice
An auto refractometer gives an objective starting prescription in seconds, which shortens every eye test and makes results more consistent. Models with a keratometer also measure corneal curvature for contact lens fitting.
What to look for
- Measurement range for sphere, cylinder and axis, and the smallest pupil it can measure
- Built-in keratometer (K) for contact lens fitting
- Touch screen, printer and data export to your practice software
- Fogging and auto-tracking for faster, repeatable readings

Frequently asked questions
Does an auto refractometer replace the subjective refraction?
No. It gives a fast, objective starting point, which you then refine with a phoropter or trial frame. It shortens every eye test and makes results more consistent, especially with children and patients who find the test difficult.
Do I need the keratometer (K) function?
If you fit contact lenses or follow up astigmatism, yes: it measures corneal curvature in the same measurement. For practices that only prescribe spectacles, a refractometer without K is enough.
